BT4D5 VTCT/ITEC Level 4 Diploma in Advanced Aesthetic Treatments

This course is designed for therapists with prior knowledge in peeling and skin needling, such as the CPD Level 5 Diploma in aesthetics. The in-class training you will receive on this course will be the skin rejuvenation treatments such as the carbon laser peel, removal of pigmentation and red veins. 

We will give you training in how to carry out 6 practical assessments for each unit and the in-depth underpinning knowledge presentations and manuals for you to study online and prepare for taking theory exams, writing assignments,  all of which have not been covered in the CPD Level 5.

Course Overview

This Level 4 qualification, is suitable for students that have completed their CPD Level 5 Diploma in Aesthetics or hold an Ofqual regulated Level 3 qualification and are looking to upgrade to a Level 4 qualification. The course has 3 mandatory theory units and 3 practical units which include Skin Needling, Chemical Peeling and Dermaplaning.

In this course you will focus on gaining theoretical knowledge required to sit your ITEC theory exams. Learn step by step practical assessments protocols under the guidance of our skilled assessors, who will also guide you to compile an ITEC specified portfolio of evidence.

Our curriculum is designed to help you build an extensive portfolio of completed assignments, prepare you for the theory exams in each unit, as well as the final externally verified practical examination.

UBT462 Principles, practice and ethics of advanced aesthetic therapies.

This theory-based module is designed to teach you to have a deep understanding of the underlying principles of the aesthetic therapies, the scientific knowledge, the technology used, and the methods of application. You will be required to explore the ethical dimensions of aesthetic practice, focusing on topics such as client consent, confidentiality, professional behavior. The unit also covers the legal frameworks governing the industry, highlighting the practitioner's responsibilities towards client safety and wellbeing. This unit will give you insights into best practices for delivering aesthetic treatments, ensuring you make informed decisions, manage client expectations ethically and adhere to the highest standards of professional conduct.

UBT463 Investigative consultation for advanced aesthetic therapies.

This theory-based online learning unit will equip you with the knowledge needed to perform in-depth client assessments, which you will be able to apply in practical scenarios and demonstrate your ability to conduct thorough investigative consultations. This includes gathering client history, understanding their concerns and expectations, evaluating their suitability for different aesthetic procedures, ethical considerations, communication skills for managing client expectations and successfully obtaining a signed  informed consent. You will be required to identify contraindications and recommend appropriate treatment based on the client's needs and demonstrate you can conduct thorough investigative consultations in your 5 case studies and practical exam. 

UBT464 Skin science for advanced aesthetic therapies.

This unit covers underpinning knowledge of skin anatomy and function, common skin conditions, skin aging, skin disorders for aesthetic treatments such as chemical peels, microneedling and laser skin rejuvenation treatments and  how these procedures interact with the skin on a cellular level. Safety protocols, client consultation techniques and ethical considerations are also key components of the unit, ensuring you provide not only effective but also safe and personalised treatments for your clients. 

Provide Skin Peeling treatments

Our Level 4 Skin Peeling unit is an assessment based unit with  6 assessments using a combination of superficial skin peels, BHA, AHA and PHA on diverse skin types and conditions. Theory outcomes covered in this course are, chemistry behind each acid, their unique properties, benefits, risks and complications. 

You will be required to carry out Skin peeling treatments that meet the ITEC strict assessment criteria, which follow specific protocols for each assessment. This course provides training in how to carry out competent assessments for students that have completed their CPD Level 5 Diploma in Aesthetics and are not familiar with ITEC exam criteria.

Provide Cosmetic Skin Needling treatments

There are 6 practical assessments to be carried out in this optional unit with Dermapen and Derma rollers techniques to  induce controlled micro-injuries to the skin and stimulate collagen on different skin conditions. Your assessments will center around understanding the science behind skin regeneration and how it can effectively address issues such as fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars and uneven skin texture, selecting the appropriate needle depth and technique according to the individual requirement of each skin type and condition, observing

Enhance appearance using dermaplaning techniques

This unit offers in-depth training in dermaplaning combined with chemical peel. You will learn crucial health and safety protocols to ensure a safe environment for dermaplaning treatments. Your practical training incorporates client consultation, how to effectively plan and prepare and combine dermaplaning with chemical peels to treat different skin conditions. You will carry out 4 assessments on live models in class and go through a final externally verified practical assessment at the end of the course under the observation of an ITEC examiner.

Structure of the Course

Day 1: Induction

The course begins with an induction Powerpoint presentation that will guide you and  give you insights into the ITEC assessment criteria and Revival academy processes throughout the course. You will be handed a scheme of work that has a schedule of work, from online learning theory learning, to assignment writing and watching practical assessment videos to prepare for your exams. 

The induction will also introduce you to the Revival Academy policies and procedures and your trainer will work out your individual scheme of work which will account for your previous experience, training, and your requirements during this course.

Day 2: Skin Peeling 

A recap on the powerpoint presentation on underpinning product knowledge on the chemical peel formulations, depth and skin anatomy is followed by a tutor demo of a superficial chemical peel. In the afternoon you will practice a peel on each other and use investigative consultation techniques.

You will carry out the treatment using rigorous and precise assessment guidelines set out  by the ITEC awarding body, ensuring a standardised treatment process that is  competent and meets the satisfaction of the client.

This will be the template for the 5 case studies and the EQA practical assessment.

Day 3 and 4: Dermaplaning

Our Ofqual dermaplaning and chemical peels training begins with a PowerPoint presentation that covers all theoretical aspects of dermaplaning. This is complemented by a live demonstration conducted by an experienced tutor, showcasing the precise techniques involved in a dermaplaning treatment paired with a chemical peel. Following the demo, engage in hands-on practice sessions where you can apply these techniques on fellow trainees or models. As your skills develop and you gain confidence, you will progress to working independently on models and conducting comprehensive case studies. Upon reaching competency, you will be scheduled for a final assessment with an ITEC examiner before you can be certified.

Day 5 and 6: Skin Needling

A recap on the powerpoint presentation on underpinning product knowledge on the serum formulations, and skin needling tools, depth and skin anatomy is followed by a tutor demo of the Dermapen and Derma Roller assessment protocol. In the afternoon you will practise this protocol on models and manage the client expectations and give post treatment instructions. You will carry out the treatment using rigorous and precise assessment guidelines set out by the ITEC awarding body, ensuring a standardised treatment process that is competent and meets the satisfaction of the client.

This will be the template for the 5 case studies and the EQA practical assessment.

Day 7 to 9: Case Studies

Carry out case studies on models, on Skin Peeling, Skin Needling and Dermaplaning, treatments covering all the ranges and outcomes specified by ITEC on live models in class. 

Compile a portfolio of evidence and sit the theory exams in class.
