PLATELET-RICH PLASMA (PRP)
PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) hair loss treatment is a regenerative procedure designed to counteract hair thinning and combat hair loss. PRP, rich in growth factors and cytokines, is injected into specific areas of the scalp affected by hair loss or thinning.
The growth factors within the Plasma actively stimulate tired and resting hair follicles and blood circulation in the scalp, and strengthen existing hair. Consequently, strengthening and enhancing the existing hair quality and immediately halting hair loss, whilst promoting the growth of fresh, healthier hair. PRP hair loss treatment is a minimally invasive and safe procedure, with minimal downtime involved.

The PRP Hair Loss process begins by extracting a small blood sample from the arm, which is then turned into Plasma—rich in growth factors that are beneficial for tissue repair and hair follicle regeneration. Plasma is strategically injected into the scalp in areas where hair loss or thinning is evident. These injections are precise and strategically placed to target the dormant follicles. The growth factors in the PRP stimulate these tired, resting hair follicles, improve blood circulation to the scalp, and strengthen existing hair shafts. Over time, leading to the reversal of hair loss, an increase in hair density, and the growth of new, thicker hair.

- Emla Topical Anesthetic
- Dermapen
- 2ml Syringe
- 4mm/13mm 30g Needle
- Centrifuge machine
- 2 X 8ml Sodium Citrate Tubes

Step 1
PRP session starts with venipuncture treatment that extracts 18ml of your blood usually from your arm, similar to a routine blood test.
The collected blood is placed in a centrifuge, for 7 minutes to extract the Plasma from the blood.
Step 2 + 3
Step 2
The skin is cleansed with the Antiseptic cleanser, followed by application of the topical numbing cream for 20 minutes to minimize any discomfort during the procedure.
Step 3
Collect the plasma from the centrifuge machine and prepare 2 x 2ml syringes.
Step 4
After removing the Emla numbing cream and properly sectioning the treatment area, administer PRP injections spaced approximately 1cm apart, employing a systematic papule method that covers the entire area exhibiting hair loss symptoms. This methodical approach ensures comprehensive coverage and effective delivery of Plasma to stimulate hair follicles and encourage hair regrowth.
Step 5+6
Step 5
After the injections, gently massage any remaining Plasma residue into the scalp. This helps to distribute it evenly across the treated area, and help the healing process and optimise the results.
Step 6
For optimal results, it's essential to maintain a consistent treatment schedule. PRP hair loss treatments should be repeated every 3-4 weeks, and it's crucial to complete a course of 6-8 treatments without any gaps in between sessions. This consistent regimen is designed to train the hair follicles into regular activity, promoting sustained hair growth and improvement in hair thickness and quality over time.
Aftercare
Avoid touching or rubbing the treated scalp area for at least 24 hours to prevent infection and irritation. When washing your hair, opt for a mild shampoo and use a gentle touch to avoid excessive scrubbing. Additionally, steer clear of hot baths and saunas for a few days post-treatment, as they can worsen inflammation. Refrain from using harsh hair styling
Questions & Answers
HOW DOES THE PRP HAIR LOSS TREATMENT WORK?
PRP hair loss treatment involves drawing a small amount of your blood, processing it to concentrate the platelet-rich plasma (PRP), and then injecting the PRP into the scalp. The growth factors in PRP stimulate hair follicles, promote blood flow, and strengthen existing hair strands, which can help halt hair loss and encourage new hair growth.
HOW EFFECTIVE IS THE PRP HAIR LOSS TREATMENT?
PRP therapy has shown impressive results in many of our clients experiencing hair loss, thinning hair and bald patches especially in the early stages. However, its effectiveness can vary from person to person. It is usually not successful in cases of androgenetic alopecia (genetic hair loss) and long-term extensive baldness.
HOW MANY PRP TREATMENTS ARE NEEDED AND HOW OFTEN?
Typically, a series of 6-8 PRP sessions spaced several weeks apart is recommended to achieve optimal results. The exact number of sessions varies depending on individual factors and the severity of hair loss. After the initial series, maintenance sessions may be advised to sustain the benefits.
IS PRP HAIR LOSS TREATMENT PAINFUL?
Yes, however PRP hair loss treatment is generally well-tolerated by most of our clients. While you may experience some discomfort during the injections, it is minimised as we use topical numbing creams to minimize any pain or discomfort.
HOW SOON CAN I EXPECT TO SEE THE RESULTS?
The timeline for results can vary, however many of our clients begin to notice new hair growth after 2-3 treatments, however it takes several months to see significant changes in hair thickness and density.
WILL PRP RESTORE HAIR IN MY BALD PATCH?
No,
If you have had a shiny scalp for many years, that’s genetic, it is unlikely that there is any activity left in the hair follicle. PRP can activate follicles that are in a resting phase which helps, when you start to thin your hair, or develop a bald patch, however it doesn’t work if the follicle is dead.
